Terms of use
Last updated: 24 July 2026
Please read these terms before using WhatIf.
What WhatIf is
WhatIf is a decision simulator that produces illustrative, educationalestimates from the information and assumptions you provide. It helps you explore “what if” money decisions. It is not a financial adviser and does not provide personalised financial advice or recommend any product.
Not financial advice
Nothing on WhatIf is financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. The figures are illustrative projections based on assumptions that may not reflect your actual future. Do not rely on them as the sole basis for a financial decision. For advice tailored to your circumstances, consult a licensed financial adviser.
No guarantee of accuracy
Projections depend on assumptions (returns, inflation, rules) that are uncertain and simplified, and actual outcomes will differ, sometimes significantly. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows. Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where they apply.
Your account and data
You are responsible for the accuracy of what you enter and for keeping your sign-in secure. You can export or delete your data at any time from your account page. We may suspend accounts that misuse the service.
Acceptable use
Do not attempt to break, overload, scrape, or misuse the service, or use it for anything unlawful.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of, or reliance on, WhatIf’s illustrative outputs.
Changes
We may update the service and these terms; continued use means you accept the current version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
